JUNE HAPPENINS!
6.3.11-Friday: First Friday: Glimpses of Haiti 6:30pm-9pm
Johanna Berrigan of The House of Grace Catholic Worker Movement will be displaying her photos and talking about their work in Haiti in helping establish a health care project: Kay Lasante. Project Kay Lasante’s goal is lato provide health care, health education, and disease prevention services. She will be showin some slides and sharing her story. come check it out!

We will be present at this sweet festival at Circle of Hope @ Frankford & Norris. Come celebrate the season with local artists and gardeners, displaying and selling their work. Friday from 6pm-10pm, Saturday from 10am-2pm. Come say hello!

Holly Dixon is a practicing artist living in Philadelphia. Her work simulates memories which otherwise could not occur in an urban demographic. Native to a rural environment, Dixon shares her experiences with the wild through paintings and drawings recalled from memories outside urban life. Her work engages viewers onto a platform of thought that negotiates time, space, and the mysticism of the natural world.

The Peace Ambassador club of Kensington International Business High School focuses on raising awareness to the issue of non-violence in the Kensington and school community. They will be hosting a series of events during the week of April 11th-15th, known as “Peace Week”. The week will include guest speakers, assemblies, mural painting, and other school-wide events. They are hoping to use the open mic to reach out to the community and engage others in the work the club is doing.

3.4.11: First Friday 7-9pm. featuring Philly Food Forests artistic fundraiser!
PFF’s First Friday exhibit is a multi-faceted artistic fundraiser with contributions from skilled & dedicated volunteers. There will be photographs for sale by Robyn Mello, Becca Haydu, Laura Szklarski, & Megan Bazin. Original paintings, painted rain barrels, & mini terrariums by Joe Kirby will be for sale. Acoustic performances will be made by Laura Szklarski, Joe Kirby, Zach LoPresti, & Jeremy Savo. Snacks & beverages will be provided
Philly Food Forests (PFF) is a grassroots organization working to create edible forest garden demonstration sites in Philadelphia & advocate for transitioning vacant land into self-sufficient, food-producing green space. Their first site is located on 25 vacant lots on 5th & Mercy Streets in South Philadelphia. The transformation of the space after just 3 volunteer workdays has started building community trust & stopped dumping, drug trafficking, & vagrancy.
All proceeds will go towards PFF’s first season projects, & monetary & material donations will all be acknowledged on our fledgling website, phillyfoodforests.org. Questions and comments can be directed to phillyfoodforests@gmail.com.

Leotah’s Buyin’ Club!
Starting February 18th we will be starting our Buying club! The milk will be provided by family owned Merrymead Farms! (Local & rBST Hormone Free!), as well as Orange Juice and Apple Cider! We will be adding more items as time goes on (ie eggs, cheese, yogurt, dried goods).
Merrymead’s milk is produced, processed, packaged and sold right on the farm premises! Cows graze and are beautifully taken care of. Taste the difference! They have been awarded the State DHIA quality milk award every year since 2001 and also have received the platinum dairy quality award based on milk measures, protocols, and safeguards. The Platinum Award is distributed by the NMC, a leading organization on milk quality in the United States.
Items for order: Whole Milk, 2% Milk, Skim Milk, Chocolate Milk, Heavy Cream, Half & Half, Orange Juice, & Apple Cider!
First Orders in by Tuesday, February 15th!
Orders accepted by the Previous Tuesday of your scheduled pick up. Pick up days are the following Friday or Saturday.
